Third Grade

In 3rd grade, students grow as readers, writers, problem-solvers, and thinkers while building skills they will use for years to come.

In reading and writing, they practice understanding what they read, finding the main ideas and details, and sharing their thinking through stories, opinions, and informational writing.

In math, students work hard to learn and remember their multiplication facts, which helps them become faster and more confident with bigger problems. They also explore fractions, practice with larger numbers, and learn about shapes, measurement, and graphs.

In science, students discover how matter moves and changes, study plants and animals and how they survive, and learn about weather, the water cycle, and how the Earth changes over time.

In social studies, students practice using maps and globes, learn about the early history of the United States, explore what it means to be a good citizen, and study different cultures and traditions in South Carolina and around the world.

Third grade is an exciting year full of learning, growth, and new discoveries!
