Personal Message:
I was born in Anderson, Indiana. I graduated high school from Hamilton Heights High School located in Cicero, Indiana in 1991. Upon completion of high school, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a Military Police Officer. I served as a Military Police Officer at Camp Pendleton, California, Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, and Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Georgia. While serving in Iwakuni, Japan, I developed a passion for teaching when I was selected to teach D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) at M.C. Perry Elementary School. As a D.A.R.E. Officer I had the awesome responsibility of teaching elementary and middle school students drug awareness. Additionally, I served a three-year tour of duty as a recruiter. During my tenure on recruiting duty I worked as a canvasing recruiter as well as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of Recruiting Sub-Station Tallahassee, Florida. Upon completion of recruiting duty, I reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island where I attended Drill Instructor School. While at Parris Island I fulfilled the duties of a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Series Gunnery Sergeant, and a Company First Sergeant at the Fourth Recruit Training Battalion. After completing three and a half years of Drill Instructor duty I was assigned to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, III Marine Expeditionary Force Okinawa, Japan, and Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina. During my final tour of duty at MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina I served as the Squadron Sergeant Major of VMFA (Marine Fighter Attack Squadron)-533, and the Sergeant Major of the MALS (Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron)-31. During my 23-year career in the Marine Corps I participated in numerous training exercises and deployments in various locations such as Afghanistan, Korea, Okinawa, Thailand, etc. I retired from the Marine Corps on June 30th, 2014 to pursue a career as an Educator. While in the Marine Corps I graduated from the University Phoenix with honors with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management. Upon completion of my Bachelor Degree I pursued a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. In November of 2014, graduating with honors, I earned a Master of Arts in Elementary Education. I began my teaching career in August of 2014 at Elliott Elementary School in Beaufort, South Carolina as a student teacher, then as a first grade teacher. In August of 2015 I was hired as a third grade teacher at Bluffton Elementary School.

My goal as an educator is to impact the lives of our youth in a positive and productive way. It is my belief that all children can learn and have a rewarding experience as students. With appropriate leadership and dedication, I hope to impart the wisdom and knowledge I have obtained through years of my own experiences and education.

It is my goal to obtain certification in Administration and Supervision and continue my career as an educator with added responsibility in a leadership role.
